Meet Palak Harry
Dress Maker & Fashion Designer
I design outfits that I would want to wear. When I am making a dress I put it up against me and look at it, I also look in the mirror and ask myself that if I were in my client’s shoes would I wear it, if the answer is YES, amazing job done, if the answer is NO, I work on it till it is perfect and the answer is YES. I agree my methods, could be “out there”, any business person would say that perfectionists are time wasters, but for me it’s all about perfection and client satisfaction, giving my customers an exceptional experience, getting involved in the emotions of the bride (happiness, anxiety, nervousness, frustration) I take it all out of a bride during consultation, and then when she’s all empty, I fill it with the dream of delicate laces and tulle flowing in the fresh air , painting a picture of what she’s wearing and how the beads and sequin reflect through the sun’s light, identify their body shape and suggest styles that suits their body shape, camouflaging what they wish to hide and accentuating the perfection. I guarantee the bride then knows what she wants and what she wants to look like, what her wedding dress will look like and how it fits her.

During my time in New Zealand participated in the fashion in the field during the cup week and was declared Winner for Fashion in the Field, New Comer’s award in 2016. I designed and made my own outfit.
I have been passionate about dressmaking since the age of 8, making outfits for my dolls till today, making outfit for all age and size of women. Over the time, I discovered a force that pulled me towards the Bridal Wear world of Couture. Soon, I was into making bridal wear and putting a smile on every bride’s faces.
Designed first corset at the age of 19
I had made my first corset at the age of 19 and I had a thing for it. I began introducing it to my collection and to my customers. In India a lay man/woman is not aware of the concept of corset. I educated my customers and it was a hit. They loved my couture gowns and evening dresses and soon I was also well known among the Indian Christian brides. From French laces to pearls and crystals, from bright red georgettes to ivory tulles, I made a lot of brides smile.
From advising on style of the wedding outfit and implementing techniques onto pattern making, creating a perfectly structured wedding dress, to giving ideas about embroidering bride and groom name initials onto the veil, I have the ability to select the best fabrics and textures to create the perfect design for my clients I put my love into every design, making sure that the dress is perfect in every way and seeing my clients faces light up acknowledging that their gown is the perfect fit, shape and style, makes it all worthwhile. I have helped the brides in every way to make them stand out and be unique on another level.
I have the ability to merge my knowledge and my experience of cultural and historical fashion to turn into something unique and exquisite. Upon moving to Adelaide, I want to be able to share my knowledge of dressmaking and my style sense with the brides-to-be here in Australia.
